SIMI’s partners include the Africa Project Development Facility (APDF), Centre for Development of Enterprise (CDE) and First International Bank (FIB) under the US EX-IM Bank.

FACILITATION/LIAISON FOR SERVICES OF THE FOLLOWING INSTITUTIONS:

African Development Bank

The African Development Bank (AFDB) is a member of the World Bank Group. It is Africa’s leading financial institution, and a multilateral development agency promoting economic development in Africa. SIMI has worked with AFDB to provide funding and financing for Gambian projects, and has provided them consulting services.

African Project Development Facility (APDF)/International Finance Corporation

The Africa Project Development Facility (APDF) is a donor-funded facility established in 1986 by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa. SIMI is the local antenna office for APDF, and has teamed-up with them to provide project financing and capacity building to Gambian companies and public agencies.

European Investment Bank (EIB)

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the financing arm of the European Union, and SIMI serves as their local liaison, helping Gambian firms access funds from EIB.

EX-IM Bank India

The Export-Import (Exim) Bank of India was formed to finance, facilitate, and promote trade with India. SIMI works with Exim Bank India to help transfer appropriate technology (especially agro-industrial technology) from India to African countries.

Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of South Africa

IDC is a self-financing, state-owned development finance institution that provides financing to entrepreneurs in South Africa. IDC also promotes the export of South African products by providing credit to foreign buyers of South African equipment.

Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD)

ICD is a multilateral financial institution created by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to provide private sector financing in its member countries. SIMI has worked with ICD and local partners to provide funding for Gambian companies.

OPEC Fund for International Development

The OPEC Fund is a multilateral development finance institution established by the Organisation for Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to promote cooperation between OPEC member countries and other developing countries, and help social and economic development in poor countries. SIMI has worked with the OPEC Fund to provide funding and financing to Gambian projects and companies.

African Development Bank (ADB) Private Sector

The African Development Bank (AFDB) is a member of the World Bank Group. It is Africa’s leading financial institution, and a multilateral development agency promoting economic development in Africa. SIMI has worked with AFDB to provide funding and financing for Gambian projects, and has provided them consulting services.


Trade and Investment South Africa (TISA)

TISA encourages investment in South Africa, and promotes the export of South African products. Toward these ends, TISA provides technical and financial support to South African companies, and engages in promotional activities to attract investors to South Africa.

Export Import (EX-IM) Bank of the US

Ex-Im Bank is the official export credit agency of the U.S., and helps in financing the export of U.S. products and services. SIMI is the local antenna office for Ex-Im Bank, and has helped secure financing for the importation of U.S. products by Gambian companies.
